SP/PFE borrowed lots of reefers in the off-season from BAR. Early
1960's photos of Donner pass show lots of BAR reefers, plus C&NW/NWX
reefers mixed in with PFE reefers. Before the mid 1950's, I

When did they start painting them yellow or orange?

Dave,
Be careful with bottlebrush. Certain compounds in the plant are deadly poisonous (IIRC, digitalis). They are probably safe for log loads, as long as small children don't get the twigs to teeth
