Re: New Haven Boxcar Paint & Lettering
Possibly not. The New Haven 40-foot PS-1's were 10-0 IH, IIRC, as were the
Lackawanna's.

Norm;
I stand corrected, as I heard they used steel from an industry guy that
may not have known better. Nevertheless, I also should have picked up
my copy of "Making..." before assuming I

Re: GN vs. NP double sheathed cars (long)
Good to know. So thinking about how the cars were built up, and
looking at the photo, the metal truss was probably the same distance
from centerline as the vertical sidewall posts on a standard AAR

Some folks have ALL the cool toys!
Thanks. Your wording just made it sound like you were going to
modify the MDC roof INTO a Murphy roof.

Aren't these cool cars? Does anyone know where Koppers got their cars?
They were apparently 48'6" IL; 51'3" OL, straight sided, fishbelly
underframed, and look like they had drop ends. Does

When the steel is teemed , it starts to cool immediately in contact with the mold. The moten steel contracts as it cools, the mold expands as it heats, and the two surfaces pull away from each

Isn't there a picture of steel making ingot molds loaded in gons in
the P&LE gon book?
My recollection is the picture is after the steam era but these
objects don't look very high tech.
