If someone has a copy of Bill's handout and a scanner, maybe they would be willing to scan it to a pdf?

Kurt;
I can't remember the inside diamater of a coil, but it varied. A common size
ID for some of the smaller ones was 9".
The outside diameter also varied, but on the coil cars of the time,

Coil inside diameter dimension?
What is the typical ID of a coil? (Real, not necessarily a model company's interpretation.)
I can make my own model coils if I make a few assumptions: Width can be anything but for a model a good

Tim,
Yes, primarily coal, but the Virginian also served a considerable number of other industries. Take a look in your ORER, and you will note that they had a small selection of general freight cars,

Bill,
If you are lurking on the list, how does $7.00 each, post paid sound? This info is certainly worth the price to me at least. Being retired and partially disabled keeps me from too

Re: Limestone for the Steel Industry
B&O had two major types of gondola containers, LCL and flow type.
- B&O had 50 O-27a gondolas (USRA clones) fitted up for LCL service.
These containers spanned the entire car. The B&O clearance

Don't forget the N&W tried to lease the VA in 1926 and the ICC denied the application.

What is the new Athearn truck under their PS 2893? It's definitely
not an ASF, and it looks like it could be a 70 ton truck.

Unlikely or not, there was (is) a yard there and no coal mine
or other reason to have a yard there. So if not coal, what did
they interchange there? I thought VGN was primarily a coal
hauler.

as I know from interviewing railroad officials--their memory for
specific facts was atrocious.
