The Southern car is riveted. On the model there are no
rivets that attach the bays to the sides however. Also
missing on the model are the poling pockets.

You are correct. There should be no initials on the doors of these
cars. Some Canadian modelers have had success using a citrus based
cleaner for removing the offending marks.

I've managed to round up a few of these -- the maple leaf cars are
about gone (at least I can't find any more!) but it's fairly
straightforward to add leafs to the cars with the plain CN

prototype, the offset triple (as modeled by Stewart and then

confusion. I've come across at least four different lengths in rr
documentation:
