Re: 10K Gallon AC&F Type 11 tanks
Bruce,
Oh poop! There goes my vision of an easy way to the WP 10K tanks.
When I made my earlier kitbashed 10K Type 7, I used a Walthers car with two 18" sections removed just inboard of the tank

Not to the Type 21 <G>. However, I think Rob is not going to use the type 21 dome. If I were doing this conversion, I would consider "extracting" the dome from the F&C 8K tank. It might be brutal

Bruce,
Yes, I think you are correct. My bad. How about the dome though? WP's diagram gives the Type 7 dome as 44 inches, and I believe their Type 11s were the same. Is this a match.

Garth,
Are you sure you're not thinking of the type 27? We've been through the measurements on-list and the type 21 and type 11/7 tanks are very close to each other in length and diameter.

Re: 10K Gallon AC&F Type 11 tanks
Rob,
No. You can't accurately do this. The Type 7 and 11 10K tanks were much fatter and shorter in length than the type 21 tanks. They also had a much smaller expansion dome. This was certainly true

Hello, I am working on a Sunshine kit #64.57 CNW 65000-67418 USRA

10K Gallon AC&F Type 11 tanks
I'm doing a kitbash of the P2K 10000 gallon tank car (using the bottom course of the tank), with the F&C type 11 frame (designed for an 8000 gal tank) to produce a 10000 gallon AC&F Type 11 tank

Would you happen to know what number series that is? My index of CB&Q
pix is OK on number series but patchy on classes.

I'm working through the stack of "Naperville Meet registration prizes" -- the next project is the CB&Q FM-11 flat. The instruction sheet that came with the model doesn't have a prototype picture -
