I like the Polyscale Acrylics so I paint my Q stuff "Special Oxide Red". I like the hue to have a warm red cast to it like I see in Mike Spoors CB&Q color book. The Q called thier color Mineral

Thanks so much! I'm not an HO person . . . . fat thumbs it seems. O-scale gives me a fighting chance. Researching the real ones is fun also. Any clues on the builders would help.

I think we are cutting things aweful close here. I have used the "narrowest" Archer weld seam on some SP? B-50-15 plate doors and they look fine. Much the same as a 10 thou grab iron is still to

Thanks. It sounds like the Archer weld seams are far too large
for HO freight cars, since they are much less than 1" thick steel.

FAR too big. The C&IM cars were "bathtub" gons; the VGN cars were true "battleships".

Those are ones of totally uniform appearance. There are some machine made welds that look like that. I prefer the other type that is more "noisy".

I would guess the 109-ton or rebuilt 105-ton Virginian 6-wheel trucked gons might be a little "big" for representing 70-ton, 4-wheel trucked cars. I
