Re: Alternate Center Rivets
Guys;
In an initial application for a PRR late 50's car side that needed a bolster
row of wide-spaced rivets, I was so happy I ordered more so I can do any
number of cars I need them for (esp classes

Gee Tony, I mentioned it to you that I might try it in N Scale at the Houston Convention! I tried making my own decal rivets but could not do the job Archer has done.

I've thought of it, (probably lots of people have also thought of it) but I haven't tried

Guy,
The originating post was clearly regarding HO scale. O scale modeling is a world I know nothing about, but suspect .013 copper wire for brake piping would be pretty neat stuff.

I like old-fashioned music wire for vertical brake staffs, because of its rigidity. It's so hard, though, that it chews up clippers; so I keep a special pair around for that use only. For applications

I cannot imagine?why, for any reason, you would?want to use something with no rigidity, like copper wire, ?for?a grab iron. Let's get real, model railroad cars get handled, even in amd out of display

I prefer phosphor brass wire as from Tichy/CMA (and probably others). Its readily available and more workable IMHO.

If .013 is the smallest size you can get, it is not even good for UF brake

Staring at me in the pile of car kits to build is a Rail Shops' carbon black covered hopper. .009" stainless steel wire is supplied in the kit for grabirons and brake rigging.
Has anyone here any

If you want a copy of my measurements for the 1948-era car, send me a private message with your snail mail address and I will send you a copy (3 pages). I even have a couple of detailed photos

If you don't have shippers and receivers to ship then a RR has to find places to store cars until the economy comes back. It's quite an under taking working with the Operating department. Storage
