Well, yes, strictly speaking I do have a prototype photo. However the trucks are obscured in the
dark areas under the cars, useless for this purpose These are, however, SHPX cars.

Which cars? Some Texaco/Gatx cars had Dalman two levels, some other shippers
had spring planks, some early ones had T-section trucks. Like other cars the
who and when are needed. Got prototype

Richard, I used a Champ set but it's no longer available. I'm not
sure who else may have DT&I lettering.

Richard,
Would the IM trucks in N be appropriate or would MicroTrains Bettendorf work?

Tony,
Wouldn't the length of the unsupported span be a more logical explanation for the difference in thickness? The distance from support to support on a box car would be roughly 3 feet. On a tank

The Blaw Knox drawings show a section of tank car running
board and that is 2" thick. I've seen these on many modern
tank cars and they are indeed at least 2" thick. For some
reason no manufacturer

Kadee makes an earlier design.

Re: running boards thickness
Walter
We've been here before. Plano uses .008 stainless steel. That is
about .7" thick in HO scale. Kadee Apex running boards are .022 thick
and that is 1.9" in HO scale.

You have to partially disassemble the car to access the coupler assembly which, as Tim mentioned, has the stirrups
