Hi Folks While rummaging through the attic of the Laramie Depot, I came across a box of Union Pacific Freight Conductors' Train Books. There are 128 of them, mostly from June, 1937, to August, 1938.

It appears to be a vertical bar that serves as a door stop that creates the impression of a recessed side panel. I have seen some pictures of similar door stops on other boxcars. gary laakso south
