1. All of them have standard rectangular panel roofs.

CNW 84300 – 86298 even numbers painted as follows. 550 cars painted with PPG A-3, 150 cars Glidden C-3, 300 cars DuPont B-3.

(Speedwitch) FGE set. It can be manipulated to make other number sets

C&NW #143380. The article is from Ed Hawkins and includes appliances

Train Shed Cyclopedia #12 shows type 27 cars with the valve as you indicated. So I guess I will fabricate a mounting bracket and mount the valve on the diagonal frame member.

I don't know precisely when the change took place, but CNW box cars
built by AC&F in 1942 had sides & ends painted Wardway or Glidden
Synthetic Paint and roofs painted Sherwin-Williams Reddish
