I believe that Nikon has exited the slide scanner business. Have not been making or selling scanners for about a year now.
That $600 Coolscan 4000 model is going for well above a $Grand now on

for the PS 2893. I can always use the spare hatch parts for other cars
that had round (outboard) hatches instead of trough
