Re: CNW Modified 1937 AAR boxcars
Ed is correct. The trucks are largely hidden by weeds in the photo I
have, so I incorrectly identified them as ASF-A3, but on closer
examination they are Barbers.

Re: CNW Modified 1937 AAR boxcars
Brian,
Trucks on the 800 cars were spring-plankless Barber S-2 Stabilized. The
first 300 cars had Apex running boards & brake steps, the last 500 had
U.S. Gypsum.
All cars had Ajax hand brakes.

Brian, I have an in-service shot of 82928 which shows ASF A-3s, Apex
running boards, "Route of the 400 Fleet" stenciling, if that's any help.

Bob,
I would doubt the title of the print. Now, if it said milk car, no problem.

How about a Pratt trussed single sheathed box car a la B&M and Seaboard?
It could be a stand in for at least half a dozen more cars and shake the box, steam era modelers would want at least one. My

Armored Payroll Car?
The image on this link is described as an "Armored Payroll Car":

Were there such cars?

Summers Steel Car Co held some patents, dunno for what, under which Standard Steel Car built ore cars around 1910. See Westerfield kit #11300 (a work of art).
