You may be thinking of the Bangor and Aroostook cars they had green doors
and ends when delivered.

GATC 2600 Airslides
Athearn announced new airslides today. Are the hatches on the Jack Frost car
correct? I know the Jack frost PS-2 had different hatch locations.

For the last ten years of CV steam, 1947-1957, southbound freights from Canada into St Albans, Vt rarely had open doors but northbound freights full of empty boxcars often had open doors.

There was an AAR car service rule directing hoppers from certain roads, including C&O, be returned home without re-loading. Please see group message #60669 for details.

Ray,
Nice work sir. I was suspicious of my memory at the facility where
I am for a couple weeks. This VA must have old navy crew from Nam
cooking down below; tastes wretched!

Hi guys,
My records are showing that these cars did NOT ever make it into NKP paint. The 1/1950 ORER shows 362 cars in the 72000-72999 series, but the 1/1951 ORER only shows 150 cars. By 1955 the

Steve,
It it is the same as the CoG car, then the type 1 car should be fine for MEC. The BAR 1932 box cars had different ends. Check the as-built data sheet

Clark;
Could they possibly have been in grain or flour service? I have lots of Paul
Winters photos of box cars with open doors that look like powdered doughnuts,
and wonder if it wasn't something

It's common knowledge on this group that doors were to be closed on cars in transit.
I grew up less that a half block from the CGW in Marshalltown IA then even closer to the M&StL in Mason City

I'm sure they did!
The PRR always had a shortage of PRR hoppers, so they had a policy like it,
but then stole freely from everyone else to fill out the fleet....

Walthers made a half-way decent RTR model of these, but it was lettered for the wrong series, (71000 instead of 70000), and had a wood floor instead of steel. The wire grabs had to be added, I didn't
