The A.A.R. 1937 design had two stringers, one on each side. But MILW rib side boxes had four stringers already in 1939 at least, ahead of the 1940 recommendation and 1942 design. Unfortunately IC

Thanks. I will keep my eyes open for the correct ones when visiting hobby shops. They apparantly have done the red cars both ways. The kit I have is RC-7014-4 and, unfortunately, it is done

Ken, Red Caboose does/did sell their roofs separately. So, order some when you order the kit. I believe Detail West still makes a square corner 4/4 DE that should come close to fitting on the RC

Look at the Branchline shake-the-box (Yardmaster) '37 AAR boxcar-it has a single
stringer along each side of the center sill.

The LNE 8001-8500 series used the 1923 ARA side pattern. Red Caboose
did these correctly as unmodified cars. Later Red Caboose released
"patched" cars in black LNE billboard paint, but the patched RC

Well, Speedwitch offers them with their MEC re-roofed kits, but I don't know if Ted would sell them separately. You'll need new ends, too. Red Caboose doesn't offer the ARA body with dreadnaught ends,
