Re: Grand Truck Western (GTW) Box Cars
I think I got stuck on the '37 date thinking that to be a 10'0 inside height car. I guess the 10'6 inside height indicates it is a modified '37 built in the very late thirties or early forties. But

Catching up on old emails.... Andy is partly correct -- these cars
were rebuilt from modified 1937 AAR box cars with 5/5 ends and 10'6"
inside height. I have a later photo that shows the ends

Re: L&NE 8001-8500 (was Raised panel roof replacement)
Oops!! Sorry.
My bad John -- I just double checked my LNE #8208 (RC 7014-1) and
indeed it does have the 1928 X29 rivet pattern! This is also the
rivet pattern Red Caboose redid with a patched side,

Re: stringers
Andy,
Still no guarantee the IC didn't put extra stringers on in 1938 even if slightly less likely.

Thanks. I will keep my eyes open for the correct ones when visiting hobby shops. They apparantly have done the red cars both ways. The kit I have is RC-7014-4 and, unfortunately, it is done

sheet brass
It wasn't until recently that I was told that Russ Simpson had died. We bought out brass strips from him (1,000 at a time, therefore the delay). Does anyone know of another source? I'd hate to
