It basically means railroads switching each other's customers, with
variations on a theme.
Here's an example: In 1916 the SD&AE built it's railroad parallel to the

for M&STL and one series of SHPX cars. There may have been others but I've
not come across photos or freight car

How common were the evenly spaced roof hatch versions? I thought this would
