I just purchased a 41xx kit for the expressed purpose of harvesting the roof. It's the best feature of these cars (IMO).

Re: To quote Robert Duvall from "Apocalypse Now," . . .
Not really, i wanted to leave the blackened chain unpainted so i mask it and painted the brake rod and the homemade eye bolt on each end. The eye bolt will fit into a hole already drilled in the brake

Thank you Ben and everyone. I 'think' Accurail makes a DMIR model? I'll make the choice of building it as DMIR or just cutting off the roof to use another time.

Can you identify this for me?
I found this stock car body buried in some air brushing equipment. I can't find a box for it and have no idea what it is.
Can you help me. It appears to be a quality kit. One of the few I've seen with

Thank you, Jack, appreciated. One of the things that happens over time is you forget all the references you have to work with, and I do have this one. Thanks for pointing it out.

Re: dimensional standard?
Yes there is.
From the 1940 Car Builders Cyc, page 980 there are location dimensions for the angle cock.
for Wood underframe car 13" from center-line
for steel underframe car built after 1916

Re: dimensional standard?
Schuyler:
The 1918 drawings of the MCB S&RPs indicate that the air hose must be centered vertically on the coupler's centerline, and horizontally 13" from the car's center-line. The copy is pretty
