And just to add to the discussion, most of the ERIE boxcars I saw during 5+ years of prowling about the E-L Port Jervis Yard were a lot browner than the photo posted. I suspect the slide in the photo

TESTORS Flat Grapefruit in the 1/4oz. bottles. I gat mine at Michaels Arts and Craft. It is a rather new color. It may be a bit light, but very close.

I believe that that hole is not what Jon is referring to... but rather the “bubbling” of incipient corrosion along the bottom of the sides. This is similar to what happened to the PRR X29
