Re: Interesting B-50-17 pics
The C&O used this paint scheme on one side of a bunch of their PS1 box cars. Clerks complained, once dirty, they were harder to read than white lettering. C&O MAY have used a less bold Futura font

Does anyone know if there is a retainer valve part out there sold by itself other than Precision Scale? I know there are others out there but they are usually in a brake detail set which I'm not

There is also a photo of a nickel plate hopper with two different trucks out there. Ray Breyer probably could post to this list.

Re: Retainers
B&O cabooses did not have retainers. They had a whistle on the retainer pipe that would sound when the brakes were released. The air coming from the brake cylinder would blow the whistle.

Bill,
For “a couple of cuts”, I am reminded of Andy Harman’s mantra: cut close, then file (sand) to fit. I presume you have a True Sander from NWSL.

Re: Retainers
Earlier this week I ordered 20 packets of Precision Scale's retainer part, their #31796. Even if I inevitably drop a few, 80 parts should get me thru their transition of ownership and move further
