Re: What are these extra wide and tall clearance items (wheels showing but no couplers) #2
Railroad ferries such as along the Mississippi River used such ramps to allow for
changing water levels. Tidal areas often used aprons but that wasn't enough in
the river environment. Track was laid

I have built the Union version, a very nice model indicative of the better quality of the more recent F&C releases. Highly recommended. These are too late for you are they not Eric?

Gary,
I wonder if this is a moveable ramp for ferry loading on the Mississippi. Here's a comment that was left on the first image.

What are these extra wide and tall clearance items (wheels showing but no couplers)
These are interesting pieces of rolling stock on adjoining tracks:

I have no clue what they are!

I forgot to add, based on the ends and appearance, it appears to be a PFER-30-24/R-40-24,
series 65921-68534 in this time period.

Claud-
It appears that the negative was printed backwards. Wonder if it is worth millions like the upside down bi-plane postage stamp of the late 1920's.

Am modeling the Central Vermont Railway's 36' box cars with Hutchin's roof. The original car had wood ends, but some rebuilds had double channel steel car ends. Hope some one has a photo they could
