I thought when I said that the gun was in recoil, that it meant it had just been fired. I see I should have also clearly stated that, also.

Actually, it appears that the M7 in question has just been fired. The soldiers covering their ears, and the slight cloud of smoke in front of the barrel tend to lend credence to my statement.
