Don, to the best of my knowledge the DL&W car in question retained it's wood sheathing right to the end. This was done by Sunshine 37.9/11/12.

The model essentially represents plywood sides. I'm no expert on MDT, but I'm not aware that MDT ever experimented with plywood sheathing. Roger Hinman would know, and hopefully he will chime in.

For that car number, definitely (1) wrong ends (2) incorrect riveting pattern on sides(are there any rivets
