I wonder if the missing angle cockbracket is the reason for the chalked note on the car side to “hold forinspection when empty”. As the note is dated 9/18/21, we have a pretty closedate for these

The A end is interesting, as the angle cock bracket is broken off and missing.

DL&W 81297 is a 50-ton USRA twin hopper and one of 800 assigned to the Lackawanna by the USRA. DL&W 81000-81499 were built by American Car & Foundry with 81500-81799 built by the Pressed Steel Car

Yes, I checked the roster and there were no GS-5/7/8 gondolas assigned to C&S or FW&D, so it has to be CB&Q.

Yes, it's a Burlington Route GS-5 or GS-7 with a Perfection power hand brake. It's not possible to determine which class without being able to read the road number.

I do require reading glasses, but I can't make out any of the letteringon the car clearly.
In any case the car is clearly not a USRA gondola but it looks exactlylike one of the Burlington's

C&S reporting marks were "C&S." That's three letters. "CS" was Canada Southern.
