Charlie, as a member of the less is more weathering camp, you have set the bar just right as far as I’m concerned. You freight car fleet has just the look I’m after, done but not overdone.

F&C C&O 40’ Automobile boxcar finished
Finished the brake components, rods and piping this morning and painted the underframe. I didn’t want to over weather it and just added door scrapes around the right door and scrapes up the side

I'm 95% sure WMRHS has found documentation of cars painted black in the teens and 20s. Of course you could still argue that maybe they were supposed to be black on paper, and turned out red, but
