Microscale's chalk mark decals
you should all know that Ted Culotta has brought out a much better HO chalk mark set than this new one by Microscale. In addition to that Protocraft Decals has produced Ted’s in O scale

Friends,
These ongoing graffito are interesting. While it wasn't in our period, I remember seeing a couple of cars which were inscribed by someone calling himself "Mahatma Indeedi",

Re: Microscale Chalk Marks
I agree these are 'pictorial' graffiti, which was relatively rare. Also, bright white
is ok for a brand new chalk mark, but I prefer the light gray color usedby Sunshine.

ATSF Dry Ice Reefers
Recently discovered: (1) I need 1 or 2 dry ice reefers; (2) Sunshine made four versions in kit form; and (3) they're very hard to find.
Anybody have a couple of built or unbuilt kits in any version

According to a 1970 NSRy roster, these cars were built in 1944. I haven't found out by who, or what years the Norfolk Southern leased them.

Re: Southern Car and Foundry Tank Car Prototypes

Gulf did take a few hundred STC cars around 1920, as did RPX (Shell) and SHPX.
Do you know which car numbers Gulf used on cars purchased from Standard Tank Car? I have quite a few photos of

Re: NS 9347 hopper
Maybe. Could just as easily have started as a regular offset-side car. NS 9200-9399 were secondhand leased cars (probably from USRE, and probably rebuilt by them).

North American's tank cars were mostly Pressed Steel cars built in the late 1920s. GATX did have some STC tanks from the various smaller fleets they bought up over the years, primarily the ~3000 STCX

There's a major manufacturer that's going to release a car with factory applied chalk markings very soon.

While I am delighted to see Microscale has added chalk marks, my first impression is that too many of them lean toward chalk graffiti drawings, many of which are too large for anything but a box car

Don if you click on the link Bill provided you would see that Microscale has printed with a blue backing paper. Very easy to see the decals on their website.

TimO,
MD&S was an SAL subsidiary, so this car was probably delivered along with one of SAL's many similar 1958 cu. ft. orders. I can check my rosters; there may also be a mention in RP Cyc.
