Re: High Definition 3D Color Printer - Mimaki Color Printer
I definitely count myself a model builder-I deplore the trend toward RTR , but some of these newer technologies such as 3D printing and resin casting do make up for a lot of the loss of the old line

Hi CJ,
When I got into this hobby in the 1960s, it was more of a model builder's hobby. These days it seems like a RTR hobby. Other than resin, and companies like Tichy and Accurail,

Print out the car, the paint scheme, lettering, and weathering all at the same time? Would that take the fun out of building models?
The operators might love it, having that kind of realism available

Re: Next car info
I managed to find an undec C&O/NKP Atlas 1932 box with the said radial roof (actually 15 ribs). Just removed the door tracks and use your UMM saw, easy-peasy. My roof is going on a Red Caboose Pennsy

Greetings,
This revolutionary 3D printing process came to my attention when I received an email illustrating high resolution airplane cockpit instrument panel detail sets. They are stunning.

The roof is easy: C&O and NKP used the same Cabre radial roof on their ARA 1932 boxes, so just find an Atlas car and a razor saw.

The next FtD box car Jason would like to build (me) is the 11000 series. These came from the DT&I so hopefully someone has a photo or two?
Thank you all! Clark

Tom Christenson sent me a photo of one of the SAL cars too. Those are so cool, I had no idea that was way to hang doors. Thanks for posting. Too bad Clark's search wound up with a standard car!

The January 1959 ORER says 6' doors.
In the January 1996 RMC (pages 72-75) there was an article by John Edwards on kitbashing an SAL 20-foot door boxcar from a combination of parts from Front Range,

Re: Box car info
60’s vintage ORER’s only list the 6 foot door. Then the FtDDM&S disappears into the C&NW. Maybe that might be a way to follow these two cars.
