That’s a pretty cool model, Fenton! An interesting combination of hardware for a rebuild. How many did the DT&I have?

Fenton,
Very nice model of a neat looking prototype.
I wonder if any of our mini-kit producers would be interested in a mini kit of this car? It certainly has appeal.

Latest project from the Southern Piedmont shops DT&I USRA rebuild with Climax radial roof No 11799
This is a combined effort from Rich Christy who provided the roof from an Atlas 1932 boxcar to Andy Carlson who made the resin casting of the roof who sent it to me and I cut down a Tichy USRA rebuild

Re: ARA steel Xm floor stringers
Hi Earl!
No stringers on the 1975 B&M XM-1 boxcars built by SSC 1929-1930. SSC drawings (Pullman Library) and site photos of existing cars confirm absence. Hope this helps if you are looking to

ARA steel Xm floor stringers
In various articles and publications, it's been established that the PRR issued a drawing in 1946 depicting a change that was to be instituted on X29 box cars whereby two floor stringers per side

Would this type of stencil indicate a fairly temporary assignment?
I ask that because SP basically used the 600000 series numbers to keep track of assigned

Re: What's on my workbench
I found that the scariest thing to try but, for a first time at it, was pretty happy with the overall look. I applied some Vallejo Model wash rust effects over the gray patches to soften it a bit.
