It's an Emergency car. They were built by Pressed Steel in early 1943. Series was 71000-71999 with most steel sheathed by the early 1950s.

At a quick glance, the car looks to benumbered as D&RGW 71177. This photo is dated 1949 and the 1943 ORER doesnot list D&RGW car series beyond 70699. Someone else will need to check alater ORER.

It seems as though when a new model comes out we (myself included) are quick to note everything that is wrong with the model. We tend to forget without the efforts of the manufacturers we would not
