TimO,
MD&S was an SAL subsidiary, so this car was probably delivered along with one of SAL's many similar 1958 cu. ft. orders. I can check my rosters; there may also be a mention in RP Cyc.

How ironic that I just found a floor plan sketch (Chf Engineer's x-drawings (8.5 x 11) to support AFE's) of the third pump house on the branchline. It was being replaced with a new one with

NS 9347 hopper
Since this car was originally built in 1944, could it have been a War Emergency
that has been extensively rebuilt with new sides? The hopper bays and slope sheets
and other details seem consistent

Re: Southern Car and Foundry Tank Car Prototypes
Steve,
Thanks very much for your informative reply. It sounds like the SC&F cars aren't good choices for the UTLX fleet.
Any idea whether the cars represented by kits 2002 and 2005 would be more

Kit 2003 could be used for UTLX. They purchased 200 carsfrom Standard (Tank) Car company in 1917 numbered 7850-8049. At some pointin the future, probably by 1930, or so, they would be renumbered
