I have my doubts whether any refrigerator car with noticeable mold or mildew in it would be a candidate for hauling perishables being shipped any

I believe Tony Thompson has done enough research, includingfirst person interviews, to conclusively say that PFE did not run their reeferswith the hatches open to dry out the interiors.

The refrigerator cars went through a cleaning and inspection before the were reloaded for perishable loading. The larger reefer operators, such as PFE and SFRD maintain larger facilities to perform
