The point to remember is that whatever is used to darken the backside of a decal to make its print or image easier to see, must also let water soak through from that side to dissolve the glue and

I just used an ol' smelly marks-a-lot that was definitely solvent based. Never had problems. The advantage of a solvent based marker is that it stayed on the paper and wasn't dissolved by the water

somewhat dried out. I think that would be safer than anything that's at all

Sharpie pens are solvent-based and probably wouldn't work. I wonder if

I purchased mine from Bob's Photo, both color and B&W. Champs did decals for this scheme, I love that potato.
Just one more reason why our hobby needs a resin kit of the MDT reefer with the fishbelly
