Scott,
We have to remind ourselves that the "rules" are actually "interchange rules"
and do not apply to any equipment that never leaves home rails ... such as all
MOW, including company service

I would not assume Ted is correct about the date in this case. I have
pointed out other errors to him to in other photos. He's allowed to make
an occasional mistake -- I think he's sold about 5,000

Early Dreadnaught ends

I don't remember if the DA ends were available with square ends. You can make them square, and since you are narrowing them for your project you needn't worry about encroaching into too narrow

Yes, you can split the ends in half to match the ACURAIL SS car but knowgoing into this that this will shorten the end , which I believe you will needto do, and the rake of the

Intermountain also has 4/5 ends part #40700. They measure about the same as the Detail Assoc, parts. DA part #FC6235.

"for tie down cables you might try" - a hobby store, or a bead store - bead stringers have some wrapped line that looks like wire rope, comes in silver/gray/black and other colors, close to 1" HO
