Doug,
I used the Yarmouth drilling fixture for Kadee bracket grabs. The holes on the left were used to attach one end of a Kadee bracket grab. The upper holes on the right were used to attach

Rich, great work and I look forward to the complete writeup in the March 2022 Goat. The left grabs can be a pain. Did you make a jig?

Re: Help with refurbished R-40-4 PFE ice hatches
I received an email that the original wood hatches were used but if there’s an image I’d like to see it as reference. Thanks

George,
Attached are under-construction photos of the underframe and slack adjuster. Ignore the loose pipe going to the air reservoir. It got fixed just before I posted these photos.

Help with refurbished R-40-4 PFE ice hatches
I’m stepping out of my normal comfort zone and building a Tichy R-40-4 reefer kit. As normal for me, I can’t build it OOB so am building it as it would look in 1954 with solid orange sides and

I have tons of photos of loaded flats but most vehicle loads are of military vehicles. But I suspect
most cargo trucks and construction cranes and shovels and buses were shipped

Re: Open flat vehicle loads
The busses look like old ones. I remember when Shreveport, LA, my hometown, finished with trolleys (electric buses) they shipped them out (to Mexico?) on flat cars.

GN 10' 12-panel boxcars
Happy Holidays!
I just finished building two Great Northern 10’ 12-panel boxcars. The cars were built to illustrate Part 2 of an article on modeling the cars that will appear in the March 2022

Re: "Roof Ribs" (was Murphy Radial Roof?)
Point taken. It's interesting that this should be era dependent, but it does make sense. In 1922 ALL roofs had carlines, so they must have felt compelled to use the term to explain how their roof was
