Re: Lettering removal proto 2000 hoppers
Hi,
I have not tried removing the lettering from a P2K hopper - having said that ...
My go to method for removing factory lettering (which is an ink, not paint or decal) is
isopropyl and rubbing

Re: New member checking in
In my experience/observation
There is a geographic bias to freight car distribution
Out east more out east cars
Out west more out west cars
Vs a uniform distribution if the national fleet.

John. I got my information off this O gauge site on C&O 5400 being the only example with black doors but your image certainly raises the question is the site correct?

Try Super Clean Tough Task Cleaner( Home Despot ) carries it. Soak a piece of paper towel and place over the lettering you want removed. If you search “Soo The Milwaukee Road” on youtube, William

Re: Vallejo equivalent for PFE orange?
I recently completed a pair of WP/PFE R30-9 rebuilds and used AK interactive Light Rust #11105. This is an acrylic much like Vallejo. I found this to be a very close match to a painted Red Caboose

John
Thanks, I have a bottle of diluted Dullcote that’s had a few drops of Black and Tan (my computer thinks I’m discussing a beer mix and keeps adding capitals). That’s the only ‘fading’

Awesome! Truly—this is beautiful. How’d you fade the sides? What kind of treatment did you give to the roof?
