Re: number of cabooses
One way to get an idea of the number of cabooses and their uses is to find a document for the railroad you are modeling that lists caboose assignments. Needless to say, the document will be dated

Re: Aleene's tacky glue/glue to attach metal roofwalks
I use it for all kinds of thing that they never intended. Sticks to just about anything and stays flexible. Not water resistant. When nothing else seems to work, I give it a try.

Re: Gondola internal sides
I know that on my studied railroad the answer would be a guarded yes.
They would be painted "as delivered".
How do I know this?
From the proposals or contracts from the railroad to be builder

Re: number of cabooses
The Rutland had assigned vans up until 1960, then the assignments were abolished. It was a sticking point with the employees in the 1960 and 1961 strikes that finished the Rutland.

Just a thought Jared. If you save your presentation as a PDF you can run it on any machine.

Re: number of cabooses
I'm confused. Why would you need to estimate the number for the purposes of this list? It's an empirical question. The rule book tells you when you need a cab and the schedule (including extras)

I've poste to my blog a two-part description of an additional "signature" freight car I added to my fleet, a Westerfield PRR G22 gondola. If you're interested, here are links to the two

Re: Aleene's tacky glue/glue to attach metal roofwalks
Ed,
I always use Aleens gold for my running boards both wood and etched. Never had any problems with it breaking as it is flexible.
Also good for crew, passengers, windows and livestock for freight

Re: Which kind of car end is this?
The series 6100-6299 are said to have 4/4 ACF ends according to the Ed Hawkins/Ted Culotta spreadsheet on the Steam Era Freight Cars site.
Seems to have been rare, a W&LE series had that end

Looks a lot like Pullman Standard proprietary ends, although very
subtly different than other versions I've seen.
