My inquiry was poorly worded.
Gasoline was shipped by water in a ship to a waterside tank farm like Newburgh, NY, 60 miles north of New York City.
I wonder if the gasoline might then be reloaded

I'm tempted to add the early sidesill reinforcement to this car, weather it heavily and update the reweigh stencils and repack

The vast majority of tank cars used for the transport of crude to the NE were existing cars. Very few new tank cars were built during the war. Many tank cars were idled by the depression and

Yep, there were quite a few -- I think about a dozen pre-1960 cars.They
were mostly around $75-$100 and they fetch slightly more than that nowbut

The Shadow Keystone was first applied to the X48 (PS-1) in February 1954 when constructed. Beginning mid year 1954 it was being applied to all newly constructed cars and all repaints. The P2 8-54
