A series of 1937 AAR box cars came with the same type of "hybrid” 4-5 Dreadnaught ends as were used on the UP S-40-12 stock cars, except with round corners. They were used on M&StL

I agree with your basic point that the shape of the rib tips changed, probably over time tho maybe not in clear-cut "phases".
