Re: Southern 36' boxcars
All of the SU boxcars, except for the early 1916-built cars, came with various steel roofs as original equipment.
The F&C kit does come with a steel roof (I just got done building one).
Hope this

Southern 36' boxcars
The later Southern 36' boxcars (153xxx-158xxx series) with the Hutchins ends had steel roofs correct. It's hard to tell from the f&c kit but I thought it was just double checking.

Ian,
I was thinking special tie-downs spaced for the bus. But maybe the regular tie downs previously used for autos might have been adapted.

Arved,
There are quite a few currently listed on eBay. I do have one of the Athearn cars and the end doors do drop inside the car to the car floor if one so chooses.

18-8 stainless (18% chromium and 8% nickel) is essentially non-magnetic, certainly close enough to non-magnetic for our purposes.

I have no idea. I've never seen these cars. That's why I ask. I'm not trying to be a wise-crack.
The model has been retired by Athearn, so it's academic at this point.
