Re: BS box car... more info please!
I'd be tempted to start with a Red Caboose '37 AAR kit, sand the ends flat, make a new roof from styrene sheet (the RC X29 roof is a little too long and narrow for the '37 body), and detail them up

Re: BAR fresh from the factory
Sure looks like it; they could go CP from Vancouver all the way to Brownsville Jct ME to turn over to the BAR. A lot of freight traffic in New England came via Canada The distance from the PC&F plant

Not unless you want to cut two bodies apart horizontally and splice the pieces back together, Jim. The BS car was 10’0” inside height, the ’32 AAR cars only 9’4”.

All,
Would the Atlas 32 ARA be a basis for modeling/kitbashing this car in HO scale? It's "too neat" not to model!

I have four in-service photos of these cars; apparently they were distinctive enough in appearance to attract rail photographers. Two photo show cars shortly after delivery, with all original

I wondered about this too. It seems unlikely. Onthe other hand, I've seen the light weight of this BS order given as 41,400.Even a 3,000 lb. increase seems to much for a door.

Maybe I should have said non-corrugated ornon-pressed. :-) The roof on the RDG class XMu USRA derivative and some laterRDG designs were similar. As far as I know, this type originated on the ARA"X-29"

Eric my notes say that it is a "lap seam" roof, but I'm notsure
where that came from. The only photo I've ever seen before was in
one of the Train Shed Cyclopedia reprints.
