I’ve had several of the box cars, all stripped and repainted to my favoriteroad (most bought used). I thought the factory lettering was heavy handed atbest. The weathering may have been a good

It looks like the ex-AB&C Seley hoppers that the ACL got lasted until at least 1950 in ACL paint. Maybe longer in MofW service.

Most of them did die early, simply because they were composite cars built a decade or more before World War I. Southern's lasted as long as they did because the last series with steel ends were built

Ah, the GT twin hopper. They are a curious blend of GLa/1905 CD traits, but I think they actually trace back to the ca. 1905 ACF channel-side hoppers.
