Re: Lift that ERIE car
What I find interesting is a not frequently seen, apparently yellow diamond. Best end shot of those cars too.
These cars were rebuilt from single sheathed auto box cars and were classified as "steel"

Eric, the question of how many safety valves keeps coming up on the list and has been answered repeatedly. It's very simple. The rules require one safety valve on cases of 6,500 gals. capacity or

Re: Steam Era Flat Cars: o scale
Not true, Gene. CGW owned 200 flat cars numbered 3800-3999 which were built to the AAR standard 50 ton design. Some were used in piggyback service and, later, some had end bulkheads

Re: Steam Era Flat Cars: o scale
FYI.
The M&StL had 250 53'6" 50-ton AAR flat cars; 150 flats 23501-23799 built 1945-1948 and 100 flats 23801-23999, both series odd numbers only. Some were painted black, others box car red, both

Re: Steam Era Flat Cars: o scale
Rob
UP only had the 50 ton AAR flats, and AT&SF only had the 70 ton flats.
C&NW and NP only had the 50 ton cars, and NYC only had the 70 tonners.
20+ O scale brass flats -- quite the investment!

Re: Steam Era Flat Cars: o scale
Those are good choices for a PLASTIC model but I would think kinda risky
for a brass importer -- precisely because some plastic kit maker might come
along and do it. Maybe something less common but

Re: Steam Era Flat Cars: o scale
Rich these I would sign up for if you did the UP and ATSF would be looking at around 10 of each, flat cars are really hard to find. Assorted numbers of the others especially CNW, NP, and NYC and yep

I know Richard once was involved in a discussion some years ago regarding 8000 and 10000 gal. type 21 cars, but I don't remember why or when. I've got a batch of P2k 8000 gal kits and, if I remember
