Re: red caboose 1937 aar sq corner
Ok....I went and found my NKP Society magazines covering these cars. The
Spring 1990 issue did the 15000 cars and the Winter 1991 did the 18000 cars.
First, there were no rebuilds of the 15000

I remember Ted's kit. Flat chance of finding one. I bet Ted wrote the kit up as an `essentials' article in Craftsman. I'm going to "Trainfest" in Milwaukee in a couple weeks I'll look for the Accurail

Re: More freight car help please
Clark. the Lackawanna cars were apparently standard AAR 40' steel box
cars with 8' doors, but I have no photos as they were built new in
the mid-'50s.
The Katy cars were single sheathed box cars

Re: More freight car help please
I just had that book out when doing a SOO RC 40'DD! Thanks for reminding me Charles.
The DL&W car is too new for me. Looks like the Accurail MKT car is pretty close.
Thanks again

CP "minibox"
The ads for Trueline trains CP "minibox" show an etched metal roofwalk but wouldn't those cars have had a wooden roofwalk during most of their life?

Re: More freight car help please
Clark, I'll have a try at these.
I think the DL&W 5400-55899 were 40' 12-panel riveted AAR boxcars built in 1955 through 1957. From the Jan 1958 ORER:
54000-55899: XM, Box, All Steel, W-Section; IL

More freight car help please
I seem to do about everything backwards. I’ve searched my lists and found a couple loads I’d like to use on my layout. But, I can’t find anything out about the cars hauling them.

Dave
From such a late photo, there is no certainty about WHO or WHEN it was rebuilt -- this work
could easily have been performed by the N&W for example. Do you have any photos of any of
the 15000

Tim, appreciate your response; however, Mark Morgan's post that began this thread included a link to a Fallen Flags photo of NKP 15797, a square-corner '37 boxcar with a drop sill reinforcement,

Re: red caboose 1937 aar sq corner
NKP rebuilt some 16000-17699 series cars into 18000 series in 1963. I guess
they would have rebuilt all of them if they weren't being bought by the N&W.
Covered in the NKP Hist Society Volume 25,

Too bad this has nothing to do with Steam-Era Freight Cars.
Let's get back to trains, please.
Thanks,

those instructions to STMFC, so I no longer feel it's necessary to upload to

Brian, there are several problems with that. One is that the file
is huge, with all those photos. Another is that only STMFC members
have access to STMFC files. And then I'd have it in two
