I take a different tack on this. Instead of focusing on the
dates affecting their use ... I go to my books and scan them
for pictures.

And don't forget that a lot of flatcars used vertical staffs if they needed a clear deck.

made obsolete after the rule requiring removal of running boards and
shortening of ladders in 1966. I know the CB&Q retained
