I believe there is a color photo of the DT&I car on pages 56 & 57 of Southern Railway in Color, Vol. by Morning Sun. Taken in 1958 the roof appears black in one photo and dark brown in another. This

I can narrow down the time span some for you. The July 1951 ORER
shows none of these cars, The Jan. and July 1956 issues both show 73 cars,
while the April 1957 issue shows 0 cars. It

that one is the fowler clone car, offered by gold coast models. it is very nice; my first one arrived tonight. it is not offered though for many roads that owned the type; i think it is most correct
