Not quite accurate, Tim... at one time MR did cater to the serious modeler, but due to corporate pressures they changed their focus. Nowadays I tend to refer to MR as "Beginning Model Railroader"

RMC's publication schedule is behind due to cash flow issues. It goes back
to the economic downturn, when their printer began asking for payment at
time of printing, instead of when the mag hit

Ted Culotta's articles were EXACTLY the reason why I started subscribing to the magazine. Also, there seems to be more scratch building articles in RMC than in MR.
