There was also a blimp base and hanger at So. Weymouth. Mass. navle air stsation where the hanger was present into the 1970's.

I would add that the Navy still had blimps flying out of Elizabeth City, NC (NC coast) in the late 1950s and early 60s. I remember one crashing in northeastern NC about 1958-59.

During WWII there were Navy blimp bases at Weeksville, NC, Glynco, GA , R ichmond, FL, Key West, Fl, and Houma, LA which might have been destinations for the helium cars.

We recently had a few of these cars come thru New Orleans. Transfer accross the city to either the UP or BNSF yd in Avondale, La. Miss one by a few minutes. Was told they were headed west.
