The cars did not operate in interchange. According to Ed Hawkins' article
in the October 1999 Railmodel Journal, the cars were not equipped with an
AB brake system!

I haven't seen any beefing up of the side stakes in the C&Os Cor-Ten steel 70-ton hopper cars of the 50s. Hopper car sides previously had to deal with the same clamping forces from the car
