Re: PRR Depressed Center flat car
Tim,
There IS a difference between being on topic for the list but in a narrow time frame and being outside the period of the list and off- topic ;^)
That said there were auto racks on flat cars

It has been brought up that the Sunshine version of this car may not be the best choice to copy. Yesterday I put the Accurail underframe I was going to use along side the Sunshine underframe to check

Re: Need help identifying freight car classes
UP freight cars post-1951 have been poorly covered in books & magazines
unfortunately. I can surmise from scattered data that UP 506000-506114 were
renumbered from A-50-21 or A-50-22 automobile box

Re: PRR Depressed Center flat car (UNCLASSIFIED)
Classification: UNCLASSIFIED
Caveats: NONE
There wasn't a single "flat" car, on the PRR. Most of them were actually
bent, bowed, had holes in them, either by design or by use...

Rob,
UP 101600 - 105099 are, indeed, class B-50-41.
The other two UP series post-date the research material I have available.

Re: PRR Depressed Center flat car
Ya know, folks, SOME of the people on this list cut off before 1920,
but I don't hear them feigning ignorance when people talk about Dulux
paints, diesels, World War II, and all of the other things

Actually this is one of several conventional PS-1 sill shapes, and
has been produced by Kadee: http://www.kadee.com/ca/50ps1/jpg/6727l.jpg
You can add small strip styrene to the underside showing

They don't exist in this timeframe, so there's no contradiction. 8^)

SOO PS-1 box car question - 50' DD
Dennis, this looks like a fairly straightforward build on a Kadee or IM car...anything odd about the ends I can't see?

That's OK, 'cause it sounds like Tom came up with a better photo than I did.
Last things first. After more than fifty years of maintaining its three US subsidiaries as more or less separate

Tim,
I don't think this is one of the DSS&A 50' double door cars. They had low mounted tack boards, 4 rivets on the side sill at the bolster, and the angle of the side sill is too steep.

Re: single sheathed box car
I doubt it's a shortline's boxcar. Looks like a USRA single-sheath in MofW service. The caption says North Conway, NH in 1974, where the B&M dead-ended into the MEC's Mountain Division. Did either
