Re: "flush" vs, "plug" doors (was SFRD Door Widths)
Dennis, Dick, Tim...,
I can push the term "flush door" back into the teens. I have a photo
of a B&O M-8-B (I think, the class isn't too clear) that has an "Ohio Flush
door" installed on it.

It appears to me that the car is a USRA single sheathed car (5/5/5 ribbed ends, hat section framing, long upper door guide, XLa roof). About the only modernization is the AB brake. The photo is dated

According to both the AAR and NRHS web sites:
Durham and Southern reporting marks are DS
Dillonvale & Smithfield reporting marks are D&S
Neither shows a listing for DAS

Photos of LVRR 50 ft box ex Santa Fe
I have some photos I have taken of what I believe is a Santa Fe Fe-13. I wanted to ask where is the best place to put them, the files section or the photo section.
Thanks Randy

Sure... 'cause that's what we know it as now. I will agree that if I were writing a scholarly text, I would likely say, "... plug doors, which were known as sliding flush doors at the time..."

Three days ago I didn't know it was an issue. :-)
The terms must have been in use in the industry before it
appeared in those publications, since it's simply listed in
a matter-of-fact manner

Tim,
Cool. Thanks, I learned something.
Why didn't you just write that three days ago?
It would still be interesting to know when & where each term started.
