Re: 6,000 Gal. Tank Car Circa 1906
Thanks, Kevin.
Yes I used the printed walkway. It is a big upgrade over the Roundhouse version.
And, yes, some of these cars did get AB brakes but this was long after my period of modeling

Re: 6,000 Gal. Tank Car Circa 1906
UTLX had cars built to this Class X design into the mid 19 teens in capacities of 6500, 8000 and 10000 gallons. The MDC/Shapeways combo represent some of the earliest designs, circa 1905 and 6000

John,
Thanks for the photos and assembly tips sheet. The brass key stock is a clever idea for weight. All these details result in a nice model!

Re: 6,000 Gal. Tank Car Circa 1906
Steve,
Thanks for the extra photos and details re the hand brake, tank bands and coupler. Very helpful for my mods to the car. I'd like to see a prototype that might have been saved. The IRM in Union,

Very nice looking car John. Did you use the Shapeway’s walkway or is that the MDC walkway? Also, did any of these cars make it into the AB brake era?

Re: CN Slabside Hopper
I would also be interested in knowing if these CN Slabside covered hoppers traveled throughout the US, especially in the early 1950s. Thanks.

Re: A Day At The Car Shops 1951 - Film About Building Freight Cars at Merchants Despatch
I found the movie festinating. While I was not an assembly line worker I’ve done some of the tasks in the movie many times. We had a machine shop that was built in 1908-10? with some similar

That's a great video! Drop grabs being made from rod. End panel, roof and seam cap panel pressing. Underframe construction lots of interesting stuff.

Re: Lackawanna covered hopper decals?
Now remember when not only choosing car color, but do so with the numbers. As Tim was kind enough to post pictures of two colors, they are also two different batches of covered hoppers. The F&C kit

Re: 6,000 Gal. Tank Car Circa 1906
I built one of using the Shapeways frame. I remember hearing there was also a walkway sold by them, but I was unable to find it, so I made my own. Is there was walkway and does someone have a link to

Re: Canadian Tank Car traffic
I forgot, they collected this data with terminations on Class I railroads, so there won't be any US-Canada traffic in this report, just Canada/Mexico to US.

CN Slabside Hopper
I recently impulse bought an Atlas (Former True Line trains) CN slab side hopper. What commodity would this thing be carrying into WNY and Northwestern Pa. in August, September 1956?
